"How Printers Are Used in the Real World"
Cheap ink cartidges sales believes that the best way to assess a printer's performance is to use real-World applications. This means that the same apps you'd normally use on your PC are used in our tests.
Our test pages were designed to simulate everyday, real-world printing jobs, and we're sure you'll be Using printers in a similar fashion.
Testing was conducted on two Pentium desktops computers running Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating System - OS and Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4. Each desktop PCs with 1 Gig RAM and did not have any desktop PC/ Laptops / Notebook PCs running Windows Vista operating system.
Testing consisted of installing the printer driver and printing a series of documents created on a variety of popular applications.
Only the current printer's driver was installed during testing. For assessing a printer's performance, we recorded the printing times for plain and best paper.
The plain paper test use default resolution, printed on standard laser paper. Best paper tests were printed on each manufacturer's own coated media using the highest resolution and quality settings.
Print quality was assessed by ranking the output in each test from the best to the worst, with each printer awarded a score for the test based on that ranking.
CorelDraw
Corel Training Test
We conducted three tests using CorelDraw[uk]. The first was a printout of the Corel train[uk]. The train is composed of an elaborate series of layered vector graphics and coloured shading, and is a good test of a printer's graphics, printing ability.
Also, the overlapping colours help illustrate any effects of ink bleeding. The train file comes with Corel Draw and it's fairly representative of the type of graphics CorelDraw produces. The train test measures both print quality and printer performance.
Colour Blocks Test
The Cheap Ink Cartridges Sales colour blocks[uk] page contains boxes of Pure Cyan, Magenta and Yellow and various intensities of composite black produced using equal quantities of cyan, magenta and yellow.
We compared the composite blacks with similar intensities of true black to see whether the priter's driver was intelligent enough to substitute true black instead, therefore saving coloured ink.
On some printers this is a configurable option. This test also checks a printer's ability to print fine white lines on a black background. Poor resolution or ink bleed will cause the finer lines to disappear.
The colour page is also used to test how smoothly the printer is able to blend one Colour into another using a series of boxes filled with graduated colours. Corel was set to print the highest number of colour steps possible. The higher the numPer of steps, the smoother the fill.
The four CMYK colors bands are for colour intensity. The bands begin at zero percent intensity and increase up to 100 percent colour.
With each printer we can check the lowest percentage of colour possible before no colour is printed at all, and the highest intensity of colour before it prints 100 per cent colour. We also measured printing speed with this test.
